Bloody luxury

Last night on the road. We invested in a rather grand B&B room. The enquite included a jacuzzi bath and shower which made up for the 'waters' of Strathpeffer. There was also a fridge - big enough for more than one bottle of wine - and a washing machine, presumably for freshening up ones jodphurs or plus fours. Jolly good, what?

Flutter by

Like a true townie, i'm agog at any upclose glimpse of 'nehchur'
(For info on what kind of flutterby this is, follow this link)

Rogie Falls

Lovely unspoiled beach no 2

This beach was even less spoiled than the other one because it was an hours hike down a path not shown on most maps. And an hour back again. Proper remote, likes.

Lovely unspoiled beach no 1

At a secret location up north. If I specified where it was, everyone would go, they'd bring in chip vans and ice cream vans and build an amusement arcade. So let's keep it unspoiled.

Inverewe Gardens

Plants and that.

Gruinard Bay

At the ruined chapel of Sand Udrigle, looking out towards Gruinard Island where anthrax was first tested in the early 1940s. They didn't decontaminate the island until 1990.

Plockton

Tartan roughcast

Tacky tourist trap in Portree. But I admire the craftsmanship of whoever managed to paint straight lines on the bobbly roughcast.

Portree Harbour

With its very reflective water.

Cuillins

As seen from Dun Beag broch.

Dolls house triptych

With furnishings hand made by the museum owner's father-in-law.

The Bonny Aberdonian

...and a selection of old fashioned games.

Stylophone

Autographed by Rolf Harris when he visited Skye recently. We liked the Sid James Derby Day set behind it too.

A Little Bit Country, Not Really Very Rock n Roll At All

Donny and Marie string puppets. These could be dangerous weapons in the hands of Paul Puppet from Scunner.

Em and Emu

Meeting one of my heroes at the Glendale Toy Museum. Photo taken seconds before he attacked me and bit me somewhere personal.

Glendale Toy Museum

Mickey, Fred, Piglet and Pooh look out over rural Skye. This bizarre little museum is - literally - in the middle of nowhere. It's well worth the sheep-dodging drive along numerous single track roads to see the sizeable collection of childhood artefacts.
